Asset Tracking

Stock-taking and inventory control is a serious challenge for most large corporations.
Marking each chair, computer, printer and so on, with a number or a barcode has good results but also has some disadvantages: stock-taking takes time and is done manually, requires direct visibility to read the number and movement is hard to track.
RFID is a good alternative to the barcode for several main reasons:
  • the tag can be read from a distance and direct visibility is not required. It means that the tag may be hidden and therefore better protected. It also means that no rearrangement is needed in the office and the employees can continue work undisturbed;
  • Tracking the movement of inventory becomes easy and precise by mounting antennae at the exits;
  • use of portable readers and software allow fast and precise stock-taking;
  • the use of many-write tags allows storage of detailed inventory history.
Various tags are suitable for inventory control: passive or active (where farther read distance is required); LF, HF or UHF.
Readers may be portable or mounted and the information can be sent to the mainframe by WiFi, Bluetooth, serial or USB interface.
